The second American to fly in space, Mercury Seven astronaut Gus Grissom was killed during an Apollo I pre-launch test at Florida’s Cape Kennedy Air Force Station in 1967. Prior to his tragic passing, Grissom signed this 8x10 color photograph. Executed in black ink with a salutation and personalization, Grissom’s autograph projects (“9”) strength and clarity and is minimally affected by a horizontal crease. Full photo LOA from JSA.
