The details concerning the securing of these (19) signatures are subject to speculation. The iron clad fact, however, is that this is an amazing autograph gathering of the brightest American League stars of their era. While one can only guess, its likely that the scriptings were gathered at Griffith Stadium during the 1926 and/or 1927 seasons, as there is a concentration of Senators names. The medium is an OAL Johnson orb whose trademark stampings date to 1926-1933. There is mild toning and minor surface abrasions. Rendered in black-ink fountain pen, the scriptings show varying degrees of potency and include: Sweet Spot Ruth (8 strength; with quotation marks around Babe that likely date to pre-1928); North Panel Meusel, Bengough, Bluege and Collins (3); South Panel Ruether, Evans (umpire, 6-7), Sisler (4) and unidentified; West Panel Cobb (6-7), Griffith (6), Harris (7), Goslin (5-6), Sewell (4-5) and Ruel; East Panel Peckinpaugh, W. Johnson (6), Speaker (4-5) and Pipgras. Full photo LOA from JSA.
Note: the JSA LOA indicates that there are (20) signatures, possibly having included the Ban Johnson facsimile signature stamping.
